The Typographic Stamps of Czechoslovakia

200h Type III Research Project

The limited amount of research material for the 1923 Agriculture and Science 200h Type III stamp prompted the creation of these pages. With limited examples, it is difficult, if not impossible, to determine which characteristics are true indicators of a specific difference and those which are merely transitory artifacts.  The attached pages will eventually describe and display hundreds of 200h Type III stamps. Collectors may compare those illustrated here with stamps from their own collections. Please let Knihtisk know if your stamps match any here, or if you have new finds. As always, scanned copies (600, 800, or 1200 DPI) are greatly appreciated. Suitable scans offered by other collectors will be described, numbered, and added to these pages.

While Látal and others have identified, Monografie style, certain major plate flaws with DV numbers, the intent here is to exhaust all possible variations. Thus, the numbering of specimens is arbitrary, as is the selection of classification families (square corners, round corners, features, etc.) and traits (features within families). It is anticipated but as of yet unstudied in any depth, that the denomination numerals may prove fruitful. Eventually, enough evidence may be collected to reproduce the original decades of clichés and renumber these stamps in a meaningful manner.

Individual specimens have been arranged under their Die and sub-arranged by families. Once you have identified a stamp's Die, try to match it to one of the families or to a trait within a family. Exact matches are as important to confirm as are announcements of new specimens, traits, and families to this study, so please contact Knihtisk about your finds.
