Hradčany Overprints and Surcharges
The Hradčany served not only as the first definitive issue for Czechoslovakia and for the Czech territories in Eastern Silesia, but also as the first surcharged semi-postals (the Legionářské were not surcharged), the first provisional air mail stamps, and as substitutes and replacements for the Mucha postage due stamps. Specimens overprinted VZOREC intended for the Universal Postal Union membership as exemplars were reprinted especially for collectors.
