Red Cross
In support of the Red Cross, two original plates of Hradčany 40h and 60h stamps were reprinted in new colors and surcharged 20 haléřů with an overprint. The stamps were each printed using both plates and the overprint applied from a single plate of 100 stamps in a second printing. A companion stamp, the 125h from the T. G. Masaryk 1920 issue surcharged 25 haléřů, completed the set.
One million of each of the Hradčany stamps were released. The stamps were limited to domestic use and then only for one month: December 15, 1920 through January 14, 1921.
The surcharge, designated Type A, was designed by Alois Mudruňka. A different design, by the same artist and designated Type B, was used on the Masaryk overprints.
