8,650,000 1h imperforate 1h stamps were produced and most (8,550,000) released. Of the 7,440,000 perforated stamps produced, it is estimated that approximately 7,025,000 were released. The first day of issue was March 14, 1919.
Printing Matrices
Other than the initial date of March 12, 1919 and the plate arrangement within these two matrices -- learned by examining ruined sheets and printers' waste -- little else is known about the 1h printings.
