The Hradčany Abstract Design

For this design, the circles were removed from the side panels and replaced with an ornate and abstract decoration that is not quite mirrored in each side panel. The foreground bushes so prominent in the previous forms have been removed so that the building could be increased in size. Both phases of the Abstract Design are unique in the the early phase represents more and the late phase fewer denominations than in any other design's phases.

Early phase of the Abstract Hradcany Form (10h) Late phase of the Abstract Hradcany Form (30h)
Early Phase Late Phase

The galvanized blocks used to produce the plates for the late phase of the Abstract Design were created from a wooden master. Thus, the 30h denomination is rougher in appearance than the early phase stamps and is uniquely larger than any other Hradčany stamp.

Classic Czechoslovak philately terms the early phase of the Abstract Design The Fifth Design and its late phase The Fifth (a) Design.
