The Typographic Stamps of Czechoslovakia

30 Haléřů Types

The three master blocks produced three types. In Volume 4, on page 334, the Monografie states that: Type I lacks the identifying features of Type II and Type III; On Type II, the upper leaf under the upper right trefoil is damaged; and, On Type III, the center leaf of the upper left trefoil is damaged.

Knihtisk has only one full pane, identified as 33/1. However, judging by that pane, the Monografie descriptions are wrong. The identifying feature for Type II described was not found: very few leaves appeared to be damaged. Rather, the following type identifiers appear to more accurately describe the types found on this pane:

For Type I, the central vein of the upper left trefoil tends to bend downward and has ample space between it the the upper edge of its leaf. It may sometimes touch the tip of its leaf, but that joint is always very narrow.

For Type II, The central vein of the upper left trefoil touches or points at the upper edge of its leaf.

For Type III, the central vein of the upper left trefoil always touches the tip of its leaf and that joint is quite broad.

Knihtisk is very interested in hearing from other collectors concerning these identifiers.
